Visions in the SuperLeague
Visions drives the success of the Superleague Formula
NEP Visions has been selected to provide its unique multipurpose production unit, Voyager, to the Superleague Formula whose inaugural race event took place at Donington Park race track on the weekend of 30th and 31st August. The Superleague Formula is a combination of two of Europe's favourite sports, motor racing and football, with 20 identical cars racing in the colours and livery of football teams from around the world. Clubs participating in the event include Liverpool, AC Milan, Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven, Glasgow Rangers, Sevilla, FC Porto and Olympiacos.
For the event dubbed “The Beautiful Race” Visions has customised its multipurpose Voyager unit to deliver additional production facilities for the race and to cover the cars on board cameras which provide a ‘drivers eye' view of all the action. The unit includes edit facilities and a dedicated graphics area, as well as a 50 screen monitor stack to review all of the footage from the cars and incorporate it into the broadcast.
Visions has been working with Superleague Formula from the early stages of developing the broadcasting requirements and has provided this customised technical solution as a result of discussions over the last 18 months. It will provide facilities to all six races this season, and following on from Donnington the series heads to Nürburgring in Germany, Zolder in Belgium, Estoril in Portugal, Vallelunga in Italy and Jerez in Spain. Visions also covered the test event in Barcelona, and has been signed for a further nine races in 2009.
The Voyager unit also includes multiple tape and server based record facilities, two linear edit facilities, production monitoring, two EVS server-based multi-channel recorders, VTR's, a vision mixer and all of the technical crew needed to operate and maintain the solution.
