Visions Bowls Century TV Over
Visions selected to broadcast Stanford 2020 for $20m Super Series cricket tournament
Visions was selected by UK based production company Century TV to provide coverage of the Stanford 2020 for $20m Super Series cricket tournament, which took place at the Stanford Cricket Ground in Antigua between 25 October and 1 November 2008. The event featured the England cricket team against the Stanford Superstars.
The Stanford 2020 for $20m Super Series offered the largest team prize for a sporting event with US$20Million on offer to the winning team, and nothing for the runners up!
Tim Allsop project manager at Visions explains, “Due to the prestigious nature of the tournament and the value of the prize money, Century TV needed an OB company with extensive experience of delivering High Definition flypack solutions and exceptional cricket coverage.”
For the event Visions demonstrated how its extensive experience of flypacks allows it to deliver the most comprehensive solutions. 18 tonnes of equipment was flown to Antigua including 27 cameras, three of which were High Definition radio cameras.
Visions broadcast the entire tournament in 1080 50i, making it the first HD broadcast from the Caribbean, and one of the first international cricket matches outside of the UK to be broadcast in HD. Broadcasters who took the feed included Sky in the UK who showed the tournament live and had a small presentation studio at the ground. Also Super Sport South Africa broadcast Visions coverage and ESPN took the live feed to broadcast in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
